Chios, one of the North-East Aegean islands, is not far from the coast of Asia Minor (Turkey) and it is situated between the islands of Lesvos and Samos. The distance between Piraeus harbor and Chios is 165 miles.

The island of Chios covers an area of 840 sq km and together with the smaller inhabited islands, Psara and Oinousses, form the Perfecture of Chios covering an area of 905 sq km.

Chios can be reached either by boat or by plane.

There are boats connecting, daily, Chios with Piraeus (duration of the trip : 6-8 hours), Lesvos, Psara, Oinousses and Cesme (Turkey). Three times a week boats connect Chios with Samos.

Once a week boats connect Chios with Salonica, Volos, Alexandroupoli, Kavala, Rhodos, Kos, Crete, Ikaria and Fournoi. At summer time it is also connected with Skiathos Paros and Naxos.

Two airway companies fly to Chios from “Eleftherios Venizelos”, the International Airport in Athens Attica.

During the summer months there are more than the usual five daily flights. There are also flights to and from Salonica, Lesvos, Samos and Rhodes 4 times a week.

Chios, an island of natural beauty, historical and archaeological interest, with museums, picturesque villages and historic settlements, motivates the traveler to explore and discover it.

The road network is in general very good. Apart from the town of Chios where the roads are narrow and congested during the summer, the rest of the road network is safely and easily driven.

A car is the best way for a traveler to move around.
